1968 | Istoria Campionatului European din Italia

Formatul editiei din 1968 a ramas la fel ca cel precedent, dar numarul competitoarelor a ajuns la 31, de data aceasta fiind prezenta si Germania de Vest, dar si Grecia. Italia a fost gazda si castigatoarea acestei editii. Un lucru surprinzator s-a intamplat in meciul dintre Italia si Uniunea Sovietica din semifinalele competitiei. Partida s-a incheiat 0-0 dupa 120 de minute, iar arbitrii au decis ca rezultatul sa fie hotarat in urma aruncarii cu banul, norocosii au fost chiar italienii, care au ajuns chiar sa castige trofeul ca urmarea a acestui rezultat favorabil. De asemenea, finala dinte Italia si Iugoslavia s-a terminat la egalitate, scor 1-1, dupa 120 de minute, iar partida a trebuit sa fie rejucata, acolo Nerrazuri au castigat cu scorul de 2-0.
