1988 | Istoria Campionatului European din Germania de Vest

Dupa doua trofee europene, Germania de Vest avea sa gazduiasca prestigioasa competitie, dar cu ghinion pentru ei. Nemtii au pierdut in semifinala impotriva Olandei cu scorul de 2-1. Batavii au ajuns pana in finala, acolo unde au reusit sa castige competitia impotriva Uniunii Sovietice, cu scorul 2-0 pe Stadionul Olimpic din Munchen, un meci in care Marco Van Basten a marcat un gol memorabil in istoria fotbalului.
